I'm guessing not. In fact, I'd bet you didn't go into business because you loved recordkeeping, photocopying, answering the phone, or sorting mail—unless you're in the virtual assistant business. But there it all is needing to be done, and every minute you spend on it is a minute you can't bill your clients for. And the more clients you get, the faster the paper piles up.
When I started my own business, I quickly learned just how much mail and other paper comes into even small and home offices and how important it is to stay on top of that flow. My FileSlinging career started with literally slinging files from drawers into archive boxes—or into the nearest recycling bin.
Do I really need a secretary?
Probably not. Unless you're running a large business, or a very complex one, you don't need a full-time secretary. You probably don't need to get involved with having employees at all. You'll be amazed at what a difference just a few hours a week can make in clearing you out from under the piles of paper.
You'll make more money when you don't have to spend your time on clerical work. And you won't have to waste time looking for things, either!
Thank you for your focus, professionalism, and light spirit which helped me get the office organizing truly flowing again in just a few hours time. I'd recommend the Fileslinger for anyone who needs to jump start the beauty and order in their home or business.

A word of caution here: although I help people keep their offices organized, I am not a professional organizer. If you need your workspace restructured so you can really work in it, contact the Organizer Extraordinaire, Eve Abbott, for an Office Tune-Up. Or read Eve's book, How to Do Space Age Work with a Stone Age Brain, for a do-it-yourself Master Plan for your office. I thought I was organized until I met Eve.
If you don't have a working file system, consider getting a FileSolutions® File Kit to speed up the process of creating orderly files. The kits come with instructions and an index. It's a good step on the road to getting an assistant.
FileSlinger™ Office Services are no longer the focus of my business, but I still enjoy slinging files for local clients occasionally. If you need help with your office but are based outside of the East Bay/Marin/San Francisco area, try Nina Feldman Connections or Fastaf Executive Assistant Services.
