Automating a process is not necessarily automatic, as I’m finding with FeedBlitz. Among other things, I need to figure out what time on Thursday I have to post the week’s column to the blog if it’s going to be included in Friday’s newsletter. And I have to figure out how to exclude some posts from the newsletter. I think it means tagging the posts I want sent out in a certain way, or tagging those I don’t want sent out in a certain way, or perhaps all of the above.

And then I need to figure out how to set the subject headers so they don’t end up sounding like they come from the Department of Redundancy Department, as this is what  I got when I sent today’s column: “[FileSlinger(TM) Backup Reminder] FileSlinger™ Backup Blog – Zero-Knowledge Backup: FileSlinger Backup Reminder 12-12-08”

The thing is, I’m not used to having the subject-headers of my newsletter generated automatically, so I’ve been filling in that “FileSlinger Backup Reminder <date>” for years now. And now I don’t have to do it.

I think FeedBlitz is going to be really great once I figure it out. Those of you subscribed by e-mail, please bear with me in the meantime.
